A Little Trip

Thanks so much for following me over to Word Press. It's a little different from Blogger and I'm learning a little each day.

I wanted to share with you a special part of Texas, the Hill Country. My family and I spent a few days there and had a great time. The populations of the towns are small, about 3-4 thousand. There is usually a main square with quaint little shops around this center of town.

Here are a few shots I thought you'd enjoy.





White limestone and granite quarries were everywhere...many of the homes were built using these materials.





There were many ranches and land that seemed to go on forever! I live in the suburbs of Houston, this was a nice retreat.



In addition to all the land, there were rivers, lakes, and falls.

The Second Day of Christmas!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, one filled with friends and family. We were busy, I don't think we could have put one more thing in the day, but it was a lot of fun. We went to church {and sang w/the choir for two services}, traveled, ate, opened presents, visited, slept {a little} went back to church, ate, visited, and traveled back home. whew! Today I'm unpacking and putting things away...which leads me to my little metamorphosis and a little confession!
I love pretty wrapping paper tissue...and hate don't like to throw it away. Today I had this:

Yep, a mess. But after a little ironing, yes I said ironing....it was much more manageable and organized ~ which makes me happy.

I really didn't plan on saving all the paper, but after I got going, it wasn't so bad and I was able to recycle most of it! These are my favorites:

Quick Clean~Up!

I thought I'd share a really quick "clean~ up" project. I was setting a table for our family {on a black tablecloth} and put out the stemware. Yuk! The bottoms of the glasses were a mess! These glasses are from the dollar store, but have become workhorses. 

There was a residue or something that was not coming off with a regular soap and water bath.

So I tried toothpaste. Yep, regular old toothpaste with an old toothbrush. It was paste {not gel}. I think the cheaper the better...it is probably a bit more abrasive.

After a bit of brushing, the bottoms were so much better, fit for a black tablecloth!

So, if you have glasses that need a bit of attention, try this trick!

Had a few minutes today to put up a few holiday ornaments...

and a couple quick crafts...

Bavarian China

The table I'm sharing today is from my mother's Thanksgiving table.

She's been decorating tables for as long and I remember.

She has quite a collection for each season and fall is one of her favorites.

 We've always had special dinners in the dining room with her china, the china my father bought her while he was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

This china is one of her most prized possessions.

Isn't it lovely?

 Her silver is Prelude and part of her wedding registry.

I like the way she used different shades of chargers for her table.

The napkin rings were unique...a wonderful contrast to the dainty china.

We had a delicious meal and wonderful time with her and other family members.

I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving as well.
