Almost that time of the year!

It's almost the time of the year to see these beauties again. I can hardly wait!

The weather is finally a bit warmer, the sun is shining and

as I walk around my yard, I do see a few surprises:

...new little shoots...

This guy is going to get really tall...

he's an amaryllis.

 Many years ago, I brought 7 or so bulbs from my grandmother's garden. Since then, they have multiplied into quite a few. They seem to like their spot, each year they bloom around Easter.

Then to my surprise, my camilla had a bloom!

I thought all the buds had frozen...

...you see they all looked like this:

...kinda burnt...

...but as I looked closer, this one looked promising.

As for now, I'm still enjoying my one bloom.

Do You Have a Set of These?

I've seen this pattern all over the place... from Ross to Dillards...it's apparently timeless...

Desert Rose

I grew up with this set.

My mother had a set.

My maternal grandmother had a set.

My paternal grandmother had a set.

And now I proudly have inherited a set!

My set is a little "chippy", but I'm alright with that...I think it gives my dishes character.

They've been loved.

I really like the handles on the pieces...too cute.

I've added some little friends since it's almost spring.

My set is for four, but with the extra pieces, it's really quite a lot!

They're Multiplying!

I was treasure hunting, not really looking for anything in particular when I spotted these little cuties!

I just couldn't resist. They look so happy. I like the one on the right with his little foot propped up.

Then I spotted these little ones...they remind me of snowbabies...you can almost see their noses twitch!

I also found this plate...it's a such a pretty shade of green and makes a great stage for these bunnies.

The plate with violets is the third addition to a new collection...I'll post that soon.

I loved the color of the blue candleholders...not sure how I'll use them but I'm thinking that they will surely cast a friendly glow.

And I just can't resist silver trays!

Happy March!

Well, happy March to you all!

I've put a table together, with green as the common thread.

Let's begin with this little guy.

I found him at Goodwill.

He's sharing this table with another little friend...

...he's a Lladro from my great aunt's colletion. Looks like he's enjoying his meal too!

The plate he's resting on is from my mother. She received it from a wedding shower in 1954. I believe the pattern is "Button".

The rest of the table is below.

The centerpiece is a box filled with little treasures from my mother. The green depression glass is also from her. The candlesticks are from Goodwill and the little cross is from the Crystal Cathedral in California.

The place setting is Opal Innocence Carved ~ Lenox.

The flatware is Michelangelo ~ Onieda.

The little fruit bowls are from my great aunt's collection. They are from France, Haviland & Co Limoges. They are just the perfect size!

This bowl is also from my great aunt, it's Bavarian China.

The stemware is also Lenox.

Daisies...

I'm soooooo ready for warmer weather, I'm ready for spring.

Flowers....LOVE THEM! especially at this time of year.
These daisies make me smile and bring warmth to a cold winter's day.

"Aren't daisies the happiest flowers?"

Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks have such great chemistry...they are too cute in this movie.

Dessert for Two

It's been colder than usual here in the Houston area...and a fire seems perfect for a cozy evening.

This table belonged to my paternal grandfather. It is very heavy - legs of iron and a round marble top. It was one of several in his coffee shop, now it resides in my home.

The table is small, I guess it was perfect for coffee or tea with a friend.

I decided to keep it simple as well...dessert for two.
